Zaphod's MediaFire Account has been Suspended...

Yes, it's true, they finally got me!

I knew it was simply a matter of time - We've really been taking advantage of their 'hospitality' since MegaUpload fell, so it wasn't unexpected.

99% of all my uploads here will be unavailable until I can settle on new host(s).

How does everyone feel about the two Russian (Ukrainian?) hosts, Uloz.to and Narod.ru?

I haven't tried ZippyShare yet, but JumboFiles has given me a lot of download trouble in the last couple of weeks, so I don't think I'll try using it.

For soundtracks, I'm contemplating using PeejeShare, as they've just upgraded their server farm and downloads are pretty good now.  They're not Download Manager-Friendly, though, but most soundtracks aren't that large anyway, so it won't kill us to download through our browsers smile

I'll be reuploading my past items on a request basis only - If there's something you want/didn't get, make a request in that item's thread and then be patient - I'll get to it as soon as I can smile

Re: Zaphod's MediaFire Account has been Suspended...

Uloz.to is great for free users (no waiting & I can download with my maximum speed)
However... I'm using uloz.to File Manager to upload and sometimes I discover that
some of my uploads are corrupted and I must upload them again
(and I never see any warnings from uloz that something may be wrong)

Aww, stupid Mediafire.

Those Russian sites seem OK to me.  Might be worth checking out sharebeast.com too.  I've heard they are pretty good, but I haven't used them properly yet, so I'll let you decide for yourself. smile

Re: Zaphod's MediaFire Account has been Suspended...

Well, there's still the question if there's a good way to avoid account suspension (maybe by using several accounts for uploading...).

In terms of speed I'd prefer Uloz.to. It's not really as good as MediaFire but better than Narod.ru.

Another good option (at least for smaller DVD rips) would be to split the file in parts smaller than 30 MB and use Rapidshare for uploading. Files smaller than 30 MB can be downloaded from Rapidshare without any limitations, even by free users. Of course this might change in the future, but that's just how things are in the filesharing world right now.

I like narod.ru because I've never found any file offline as of yet, the download speed is decent and there seems to be no limit to file size...

It may be better, Zaphod, to use 2 or 3 sites. That way if  there is a future problem you will only lose some of your posts and not all.

Re: Zaphod's MediaFire Account has been Suspended...

Some hours ago I read the email from Mediafire that informed me of the suspension of my account.

Since Zaphod has already opened a thread dedicated to the issue, I'm posting this message here.

Gentlemen, I'm really sorry for the inconveniences caused by the suspension, but the person behind the screen name of "YRR" is getting too old to play the pirate.
I'm very tired (one of the reasons is that I'm overworked), I have some annoying health problems (which are typical of my age), and the fact that my connection is terrible certainly doesn't help.

I usually take from 40 to 70 minutes (depending on network conditions) for every 100 MB part I upload, regardless of the host I upload it to.
I've just lost more than 100 GB on MF (not to mention that I lost almost twice as much on MU last January), and I cannot obviously re-upload it all. I don't even dare think how long it would take me to re-upload it all with my connection!

So, just like Zaphod...

I'll be reuploading my past items on a request basis only - If there's something you want/didn't get, make a request in that item's thread and then be patient.

But in my case, please, be very patient, for the reasons I explained above. smile

Thank you very much for your understanding. smile

YRR

as long as the site has a clear download the file button, I am happy with Uloz.to

Rapidshare is not so bad, if You split Your files in small 25 - 29 MB parts and use the uploadtool from Rapidshare.

Narod.ru is working fine but not on weekend...

Narod.ru is working fine but the speed is sometimes a little bit slow
Maybe it depends how many people are using their services simultaneously

Re: Zaphod's MediaFire Account has been Suspended...

Rapidshare, ifile.it, netload would be the best for me.

All my posted TV shows (episodes and season/series packs) and movies are NOT my uploads, just links found on the internet.

Due to my poor upload speed I DO NOT upload anything.

I am a fan of both the Russian sites as you can get most d/l in one bite.

Re: Zaphod's MediaFire Account has been Suspended...

I'm currently downloading from uloz a 350 MB file. Started over an hour and a half ago, I've just finished 32 MB. Top speed seems to be 43 KB/Sec, down to 11 KB/s. As sometimes (often actually) I have less than 4 hrs to download. So keeping them somewhat small(er) is better.

I would rather see Rapidshare. Starting after the uloz file I have a RS going 294 MB downloaded while on the Uloz it is up to  37MB.
